So you’ve heard that NFTs have come to porn, and you’re interested in getting in early on these new collectibles. Or maybe your favorite adult performer has announced that they’re now making NFTs, and you’re wondering what it’s all about. In both cases, here’s your step-by-step guide to getting started.

NASFTY’s main page — images blurred for this article, but they aren’t on NASFTY!

If you want to skip ahead, here’s what I’ll cover:

  • What are NFTs, and why would I want to buy one?
  • The three steps to buying a porn NFT:
    - Getting a crypto wallet
    - Buying some Ether
    - Using your wallet to buy a porn NFT on NASFTY

What are NFTs, and why would I want to buy one?

NFTs are original digital artwork with blockchain-based proof of uniqueness and proof of ownership.

And NASFTY is the world’s leading platform for porn and adult NFTs — including pics and videos by well-known and new adult performers, 3D art, hentai, and more.

Because every NFT is unique (thanks to the blockchain), they’re collectible, like oil paintings or antiques. And it’s possible for an NFT’s value to change — for example if the creator becomes more famous, or if the individual artwork becomes well known — just like a physical painting or photograph.

Collectors buy NFTs because they like the artwork, or because they like the creator, or because they think the value might increase.

The proof of uniqueness and proof of ownership that make all this possible comes from having all NFTs recorded permanently on a public blockchain. This proves the originality and uniqueness of the image or video, and it also enables you, as a buyer, to prove, now and for all time, that you’re the owner. It also enables you to resell the original work if you decide to part with it, and it enables the original creator to earn a royalty when the NFT changes hands in the future.

NFTs are changing the art world, the world of sports collectibles… and now the world of porn.

Technical note: NFT stands for “non-fungible token”, which means that each artwork represented as an NFT is unique and indivisible, unlike ordinary cryptocurrencies like Ether or Bitcoin. Every Ether (or Bitcoin) is alike, and they can also be merged and subdivided — if I have 2 ETH and then I receive 0.5 ETH more, I have 2.5 ETH, and then I can send you 1.5 ETH to buy something, because all Ethers are alike and they can be combined and divided like money. NFTs on the other hand are unique objects, like paintings, and can’t be merged or divided.

How do I buy an NFT on NASFTY?

Like most other NFTs, NASFTY’s NFTs exist on the Ethereum blockchain. So you’ll need some Ether, and a crypto wallet to hold it in.

Step 1: Download and set up your crypto wallet

Download Metamask, the most popular crypto wallet. You can get it at https://metamask.io. On that page, just click the Install Metamask for Chrome button (or Install Metamask for Firefox. or for your browser, depending on which one you’re using):

Click the Add to Chrome button (or Add to Firefox, or whichever browser you’re using):

You may need to click “Add extension” a second time to confirm:

Next, you’ll see Metamask’s welcome screen:

Click the Get Started button.

Then on the next screen click Create a Wallet:

Metamask will lead you through some simple steps to create your wallet password, and to save your Secret Recovery Phrase.

It’s important to choose a good password, and to keep it secret, because it can be used to unlock your wallet on your computer, which could be used to send your Ether and NFTs to other people without your permission.

It’s even more important to keep your Secret Recovery Phrase secret, and never send it to anyone, because anyone who has it can completely control your wallet and all the Ether and NFTs in it, even without access to your computer.

Step 2: Get some Ether

Next, you’ll need to get some Ether. There are many ways to do this. We’ve included some simple suggestions here, and you’ll also find below a more comprehensive list of options.

The easiest method

If you have a friend who has some Ether, they can send it directly to your wallet (and you can give them cash in exchange, either in person, or with Paypal, or any other way you agree on). To do this, in Metamask, copy your wallet address using the copy icon next to the Ethereum address:

Share your address with your friend, and when they send you some Ether you’ll see it in your wallet within a few minutes.

The second-easiest method

Metamask has some built-in ways to buy Ether — using two companies, Wyre and Transak. These companies enable you to purchase Ether directly into your Metamask wallet. On the plus side, this is the quickest and easiest way to buy some Ether if you’re not getting it from a friend. On the minus side, their fees are higher than other ways of buying Ether (as much as 10% or more).

To buy Ether using one of these companies, just click the Buy button after you’ve logged in to your Metamask wallet with your password:

Then you’ll see several choices. Choose either Wyre or Transak enable you to buy Ether in a few quick steps, using a credit card, Apple Pay, and other methods. Since buying crypto with a credit card is essentially turning credit into cash, you’ll need to provide ID.

These are some of the easiest ways to buy Ether, as they’re built right into Metamask. If you prefer, you can also search for other quick ways of buying Ether with a credit or debit card. Just make sure you choose using a reputable service, and check the fees, as they can be higher than other methods.

A more advanced method

If you want to buy Ether more economically, or if you also want to buy other cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin, Cardano, Ripple. Solana, or any of the many others, you’ll need to open an account with a crypto exchange.

There are many to choose from, but some good choices for residents of the US or Canada are Coinbase, Kraken, Gemini, or Binance US.

All of these exchanges will require you to identify yourself (similarly to what you would have to do to open a bank account). This KYC / AML (Know Your Client, Anti Money Laundering) process can take anywhere from a few minutes to a few days,

Then you’ll need to transfer some funds to your exchange account, using any of a variety of methods — credit cards, debit cards, ACH or Interac payments, wire transfers, etc. Some of these methods (like credit cards) are instant, while others (like wire transfers and ACH payments) can take a few days.

Next, you’ll use your transferred funds to buy some Ether on the exchange. The details of this vary depending on which exchange you’ve chosen to use, but if you’re familiar with buying stocks or ETFs using a self-service brokerage account, you’ll be right at home — you’ll see the current price of ETH, and you can either accept this market price or place a Limit Order to try to get a better price.

Finally, you’ll need to transfer your purchased Ether from the exchange to your Metamask wallet, using the exchange’s “withdraw” function. This step usually takes only a few minutes to complete.

Buying Ether on an exchange usually means lower fees and a better price, but as several steps are involved it can take longer.

Other ways

You can find a more comprehensive list of ways of buying Ether, including options for residents of other countries, at https://ethereum.org/en/get-eth.

Step 3: Buy an NFT on NASFTY

Now that you have some ETH in your Metamask wallet, you’re ready to buy an NFT from your favorite adult creator on NASFTY!

Here’s how:

  1. Go to nasfty.io. Use the main page, the Explore page, the Creators page, or the search bar to find an NFT you like.

2. Click on the NFT you’re interested in to see the item details.

3. When you’re ready to buy, click on the Connect Wallet button at the top right, and use your wallet passphrase to log in to your Metamask wallet:

Type your Metamask wallet password, then click Unlock

4. Next you’ll see a message from NASFTY asking you to certify that this is your Ethereum address and that you want to sign in to the site:

5. Click the Purchase button to buy your NFT immediately or the Bid button to make a bid (depending on whether the item is up for immediate sale or as an auction). You’ll see a screen confirming your item’s details, with a Checkout button:

6. Metamask will open again, and you can confirm your purchase (or your bid).

That’s it! After your purchase completes (or if you win your auction), you’ll see a link to view your purchase transaction directly on the Ethereum blockchain, using Etherscan, the most popular Ethereum explorer.

You’ll also see the purchased item on your My Collections page on NASFTY so you can show it off to other collectors:

You can also list it for resale, at any price you choose, if you decide you’re willing to part with it.

Welcome to the new world of collectible porn NFTs!
